Female and Male Brains; More Stereotypes and Misconceptions.

Despite the lack of evidence, many people continue to talk about 'male' and 'female' brains. Recent research claims that the idea that sex controls the fundamentals of brain anatomy and behavior is a myth that is easier to believe than ever before. This all began in Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries, when the emergence of egalitarian ideas necessitated the creation of a scientific account of women's inferior status. This is where biological complementary medicine got its start. Boy or Girl? Essentialism and Biological Determinism

Our perceptions of sex and gender are shaped by the time and place in which we were born. Social constructionism is a sociological and communication theory of knowing that studies the evolution of jointly-constructed worldviews that serve as the foundation for shared ideas about reality. 

Both weak and strong social constructs will be found. Essentialism holds that every entity has a set of characteristics that are required for its identity and function. Plato's idealism argued that everything has a "essence" and a "idea" or "form" in early Western philosophy. All human behavior is innate, defined by genes, brain size, or other biological characteristics, according to biological determination. This argument contradicts the idea that human conduct is influenced by culture or other social factors. Essentialism often relies on a biological determinist view of identity, which is why I bring up those terms.

According to Subramaniam (2014), biological determinism is a general theory that believes that a group's biological or genetic base influences its social, political, and economic fate. "Sex" is regarded to be a biological "fact," where bodies are assumed to have "sex"-distinct chromosomes, reproductive systems, hormones, and sex characteristics, as an example presented in our Women's studies Lesson 3. However, depending on the context, the term "sex" has been defined in a variety of ways.

These gender reveal parties mentioned by Kurvunidis may not be good to everyone. Rather than announcing a gender, the objective should be to celebrate a baby and enjoy eating cake. Here I am at a baby shower, rejoicing in the fact that I will be a mother for the first time in my life. Men Are Controlled By Their Testostorone

Many people may easily caption this photo, "There's too much testosterone in this room." We've all heard claims like this, utilizing men's biology to excuse their behavior, with the resultant ramifications of absolving their actions. When we talk about testosterone as if it has mystical abilities, it serves to perpetuate the impression that men are slaves to their bodies. This belief that hormones and heredity can explain why boys will be boys absolves men of all responsibility for any immoral act considered a violation of divine law.

Let's Talk About Sex and Gender, What's the Difference?

According to our society, sex refers to a person's biological classification and attributes as male or female. Sex, on the other hand, is more complicated than you may think. When biology distinctions are stressed, the term'sex' pertains to biology and should be utilized. I identify as a female and consider myself to be a female biologically. It is critical that we as a culture recognize that there are more than two genders in humans. Biological sex exists on a continuum. Hormonal abnormalities, for example, can and can occur during the early phases of development. During these variations, the individual's external genitalia will most likely be difficult to distinguish as either male or female. In these instances, the person will very certainly be labeled as intersex. This is where the existence of sex differences significantly challenges the idea of a biological sex binary. Gender, on the other hand, is a cultural marker of an individual's personal and social identity. Gender refers to the attitudes, beliefs, and actions that are associated with a certain culture. The sensation of oneself as masculine, feminine, androgynous, or transgender is referred to as gender identity. It's no secret that sex and gender are important to society. The terms "transgender" and "intersex" are sometimes misunderstood, yet they relate to two distinct identities. Intersex people have biological traits that do not fit with the conventional sex/gender system, whereas transgender people go through a societal process of gender transformation. I chose the animation from Shrek because my daughter has been watching a lot of Shrek this Covid-19, and this character is in the movie. I found it to be part of the 'ordinary' now, as it appears in children's cartoons, depicting the reality of people in various variants.
